Post subject: Best way to seed?
PostPosted: Mon Jun 28, 2004 6:10 pm
Hey, I am seeding a 700 meg movie and I don't know what the best way to seed is. I upload at about 120 KB/s. I have been using different settings mostly unlimited and I have uploaded almost double the actual file size yet there are no seeds. What would be the best way to seed this and other files?

If you are the only seed for a file, Super-seed is the ONLY way to do things.
I've solo-seeded similar sized torrents and gotten new seeds at 1.1 times the torrent size.

Also you have to have some kind of faith that some peers are going to hang around and seed the files instead of doing a hit-and-run... thats the hardest part of it all IMHO :(

I am currently re-seeding a 5 GB torrent. Once another seed is made, should I turn Super-Seed off? And if so, how do I do this? It looks to me like once it's set to Super-Seed it stays that way even if you change the share settings. Do I have to disconnect then restart to resume normal seeding? I am using BitTornado 3.1

By the time another seed is made, there'll probably be 10+ seeds or enough distribution for you to completely leave.

Don't change modes nedlessly. Once you're super-seeding, DON'T look back.

Thanks DWKnight. I've finished 3 people, but one of them left without helping at all  Oh well, it says theres 12.999 distributed copies and 2 seeders who are actually decent human beings and seem to be sticking around... I think I've done my good deed for the day, so I'm gonna go reward myself by using my bandwidth to work on something else now :P
