If a torrent download fails for some semi-permanent reason (such as running out of disk space), BitTornado simply fails and gives you a "close" button. After clearing some disc space, it would be nice to simply have a "restart" button or similar rather than having to close that window, digging the torrent out again and starting it again.

I'm mainly requesting this because often times I will just click a .torrent link from a webpage where it's downloaded to my TIF and loaded from there. So the easiest way I have to restart such a torrent is to go back to the webpage where I found it and get it again. Even if it's on my harddrive it would be much simpler to have a restart button...

Thanks for listening :)

first off,I would just like to say BiTornado is GREAT

2nd...I've found a way to make what I think is the python source code/dlls and stuff needed for bt to run alot smaller, this could greatly help on shrinking the installer size, bandwidth on the site, save a few megs here and there

basicly it seems the library.zip isn't compressed as well as say...some rar files I use tornado to download heh heh

anyhow if there's a way to use another archive then the zip...I would suggest a rar of the library stuff instead

otherwise...my big suggestion is this...after updating/when your about to add everything to the bittornado "installer" use a program called zipmax

it can be found on the emulation website www.clrmame.com

it's pretty niffty when it comes to rezipping zip files to the max

and I've managed to make the 2.5mb library.zip down to 944kb :)

this is a great suggestion and sould really help bittornado I think

Compressing the library file actually slows access to it, and it also makes the installer larger. It also would do nothing to save RAM.

Since BT has a lot of preset bandwidth settings like "unlimited" and "dsl/cable fast", could it also have a personal setting instead of having to manually adjust it when you need a setting slightly different from one of the built in ones.

Sorry. I didn't take the time to read all 13 pages to see if this has been suggested but here I go anyway...

A button (or set of buttons and switches) that will paste your client's torrent data to your clipboard. Like Torrent Name, up/down, ratio, speed, seeders/peers or whatever.

Just a thought.... and a mighty fien one if I say so myself :)

just to sorta back up my suggestion

the idea with the "(set of buttons and switches)" is to have the option to send varied amounts of data to the clipboard. Say you have the option to check/uncheck Torrent Name, Size, Up Rate, Down Rate, Share Ratio....etc

More detailed fields might be of use when troubleshooting or in error reports...

But mostly I'm thinking of using it so you can paste that client's data to irc and other chat clients or emails or wherever.... mostly for bragging rights I guess :)

No real suggested output really... maybe a standard:
Torrent Name:
Size:
Up/Down Speed:
Up/Down Traffic:
Ratio:
so on...

sorry... i should really be sleeping :D

Could the status line from btlaunchmanycurses be shortened a bit? Upload infos is almost always totally off the screen (80x25), only partially visible when the download finishes.

Instead of:
(100.0%) seeding - 51 peers 43 seeds 16.000 dist copies - 0 B dn 132.5Mi
how about:
(100.0%) seeding - 51p 43s 16.000dc - 0 B dn 132.7MiB

I dunno if the the 3rd decimal place for distributed copies is really necessary either, there's not much room to display all of this info, so maybe shortening that to 1 could help as well?

Code:
--- btlaunchmanycurses.orig     2004-12-11 14:41:27.000000000 -0600

It would be really cool if the client could recognize what country of the other downloaders are from and try unchoking geographically close clients more often than others. I have a country-IP address table somewhere if needed.

Hi,

I would like to see if its possible automatic (or manual) hostname lookup for the IPs in the advanced pages. (I think Azureus does this?)

Also it would be nice as someone else suggested to manually ban or block on IP in that list.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks,

Mike

Yes a quemanager would be nice.
And a backlog of already downloaded torrents, so you can just click on it and start it again to reseed that file.
Optional auto reseeding would be nice too, but not on by default.
The client would check a tracker maybe 2 times a day for the file you activated auto reseeding for and when there are no/not enough seeds you act as a seed.
