Just wondering why bt is opening ports in the 1000 range locally?? You can clearly see the 6881 open, but why dont the others follow as 6882, 6883...etc.

Outbound communication is opened on ports above 1024 up to 65535 automaticaly, and without the control of the BT app.
All inbound listening communication happens on the port range defined in the perfs screen.

Right now there are ways to limit the outbound communication to a set range of ports, but it's better to say 1024-65535 automatically selected are the possible outbound ports for BT and 1024-65535 user definable for inbound.

Actually, it's between ports 1024 and 5000. That's the standard temporary range for outbound connections; everything from web browsers to IRC clients use it.

Some Windows users have modified their windows registry to allow for ports up to 65535.

The theoretical upper limit is technically 65535 anyway.
I've personally only seen it get up to about 30000ish on my own system, but a friend of mine has gotten it quite closer to 65535
