I will start by offering congratulations on achieving stable status. I don't know what that means, but it sounds like a good thing to be, and theShadow seems happy about it, so good for him.
I'm curious about the new port range and randomization that seem to be the default settings. Admittedly, I am a newbie, but I spent the whole day learning about routers, port forwarding, static IP addresses, ports in general, and all kinds of fun stuff that I probably should have learned about before. One consistency I noticed in all of the BT documentation is how you really need ports 6881-6999 (or more) to be granted freedom from firewall restrictions, and for those ports to be allocated to the computer on the network one plans to use BT on. So after 6 hours of failing the btfaq.com/natcheck.pl test, I finally figured out by random chance that this new version isn't using that port range by default. I guess my questions are "Why not?" and "How is this new way better?"
I'm get great speed either way (I changed the default so I could finally pass that frustrating natcheck), but I'm just curious. I looked around this site a bit but couldn't find justification for the new port range and randomization that stayed within the bounds of my ability to comprehend.
