Antivirus: Avast (free) http://www.avast.com/
Firewall: Sunbelt Kerio personal FW (free) http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio.cfm

Used Avast before but using Norton on my new computer because I got one year free licence.

Avast and Subelt-Kerio firewall are both resources friendly and i never had any problems at all and they are both free.

I tryed to remove ZoneAlarm from old computer and it was really hard to get rid off.

There are much better Anti-virus programs than Norton.

Here is a very good free anti-virus that updates every couple of days: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

This is a very good, free, light weight cleaning program: http://www.ccleaner.com/

Spyware Protection:
Spybot Search & Destroy: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/
Spyware Blaster: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
Ad-Aware SE Personal: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

I've had good experience with Norton Corp edition.

The personal is has so much gui that it makes it slow and boggy. The corp edition is clean cut and to the point.

I'm currently using the Corp Edition (from my college) now.
