I've used BitTornado to distribute LAN games across a Gigabit network of about 50 computers connected to nice 3Com smart switches, and that was a lot of fun. We broke the 2 terabyte mark in less than 20 minutes, so do the math :)

I've got a 7Mb/800Kb cable (could get a 10Mb but didn't want to pay the extra bucks).

Fastest speeds using BT is around 700KB down and 100KB up.

Direct downloading I can go a steady 850KB but sometimes peak MUCH higher depends on the traffic...

I don't know what you guys with 3Mb lines are doing wrong....Even when I had a 3Mb line I was getting 300KB - BT downloads...you must be choosing crappy torrents to download from...with crappy seeders...and crappy peers...there are lots of them out there!

Make sure you're not being firewalled....that you are using a port that is not being choked by your ISP and limit your upload speed to between 50 and 80% of your MAX upload speed; at least until you are done downloading, then you can crank it up to MAX to get your 1.0 Share!

I ALWAYS seed to OVER 100% share rating.

Cost of 3Mb cable $35.00 (US Dollars) a month.
Cost of 7Mb cable $43.00 (US Dollars) a month.
Cost of 10Mb cable $56.00 (US Dollars) a month.

I live in the middle of friggin' NO-WHERE!!!

You guys who are still on 56k Dial-up....Unless you live in a 3rd world country you should be able to get at LEAST a DSL line...DSL lines are cheaper than AOL! Com'on people! Actually, Even 3rd world countries have DSL.....go figure.

Go check out the SBC/Yahoo/Verizon deals! $14.95-19.95 a month for 786k/128k! and so on...

Ah well...whatever.

717KB/s - it was a really heavily seeded torrent, 8gigs big and i ended up bailing like 200mb in because it was all seeders. sucks, wouldnt have made up for that ratio hit :P
