hi all can some plz help iv been useing bt for a year now and had no probs, my download as been ok ish seeing i only have 512k asdl and downloading at 30kbps but for the last two days only 4-5 max kbps? iv run spy ware, reinstaled bt/bttornado but no change? when i download with windows i have no probs? so plz help as i only have a little hair left

Hi Nice 1, Your not using Tiscali by any chance are you? I have exactly the same problem, thing is I think we are being capped on the upstream this causes problems with the downstream as a result.

I am planning on changing ISP, I have been doing some reseach all week, the most reliable ISP's and ones I know are not capping Bittorrent are fredom2surf and PlusNet

I reccommend Plusnet however they have a far superior ranking in the top ISPs

Nice 1, I may be a little Phychic but your symtoms are a give away, I am trying to get all us souls together on ONE thread coz searching this forum for the words "CAPPING" "UPSTREAM" and "ICS" shows we are all over the place. Lets get co-ordinated here!

I too use Tiscali & my download rates were fine til recently. Yime for an ISP change me thinks!!!

Same happened to me and I'm signed up with Tiscali - I was downloading at roughly 25-30kB/s when I first installed bittornado about a week or so ago. It's all of a sudden gone down to 5-6kB/s
It's only when downloading with bittorrent that the connection seems to be slowed. I've downloaded stuff using DAP and I get the usual 25-30kB/s. When I've tested my download speed at http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.asp and got more or less what I expected:
Downstream 232 Kbps (29.0 KB/sec)
Upstream 44 Kbps (5.5 KB/sec)
So Tiscali are capping me when I use bittorrent
I think I'm probably going to go down the same route as Michelle and look for a different ISP unless by some miracle I come across a solution.
