hi i am going to upgrade my ram, at the moment i have 2x128mb and i was wondering whats better; 2x512mb or 1x1gb (thats if there is any difference performance-wise). also, can anyone reccommend a particular brand which is good value for money? (in other words i am a cheap-skate) thanks in advance |

thanks for that mayte but is dual channel better than single? is there any difference in performance? |

it can be illustrated in a simple way ^_^ 
Instead of squeezing in all the traffic of data going to the RAM in/out through a single pipe. Dual-channeling gives each group of memory it's own data-channel meaning there's a lot more bandwidth available. So 2x512mb is generally better than 1x1gb
