Ah well, was worth a shot
Found a tiny exe for downloading files from windows shares with resume functionality that allowed me to recover 95%ish of the corrupted files.
Now binned the hard disk!

So, after a couple of years of using bittorrent on my harddrive, it's finally on its way out. Such is the way of the world. I have a second drive installed I want to get my data across to, but several files will not copy due to cyclic redundancy check error. Windows just won't let me have them! I know that means they are corrupted in one or more places, but I want to recover as much data as I can from these files and get them moved before they get even more wrecked. All my searches have let me find some nice help when it happens on CDs but none on how to do it with hard drives. Anyone else had a problem in the past and know how to get the data out? |
