 Post subject: peers killing bandwidth?
PostPosted: Mon Nov 21, 2005 12:20 pm
Hello, I was trying to download linux iso's through bittornado. My actual download was going max 14 kps and min 0 kps. I left it going for around 20 hours, never getting any faster. I have a 10 meg internet connection. I limit my uploads to match my much limited upload speeds. I was using the curses interface and I noticed that the peers line had a bandwidth of around 500 kps.

Could whatever the peers line reports be killing my bandwidth? just wgeting the iso from the server instead of using their torrent, I'm currently getting over 800 kps.

honestly don't remember. I want to say it was something like 5 seeds and 10 peers. There was a percent on the peers line that was always between 10 and 50, but never reached 100.

I've killing my bandwidth with the wget currently and can only ssh into the box. I've already deleted the .torrent file so I'd need to reget that anyways. Looks like I've still got around an hour left on my wget (it's a DVD image).

If those numbers need to be percise, I can re-grab the torrent tonight and let you know.
