 Post subject: memory usage

It seems like bt is taking up alot of memory, over 30 mb and bogging system down. This is even when there are < 20 users connected. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do? It varies from session to session too, a different torrent with even more users sometimes takes up less memory. I remember the older versions not using as much resources.

I think 30MB is not that much nowadays, even internet explorer takes nearly 20MB. With 130 connections and seeding, bittornado takes 20-25MB on my system.

Yes, BT takes up a lot of RAM, but that is because "psycho" reduces CPU load, at the expanse of RAM. From the T-0.3.0 client onwards, read and write buffering was implemented, to reduce disk thrashing. This also comes at the expanse of RAM. You can disable this in the Prefs if you want.

No. "Psyco" is disabled by default, it causes a lot of problems, actually. Most of the RAM is overhead for the windowing library.
