Hello,

I am using XP system, DSL service, Westell modem, Linksys BEFWS114 V4
wireless router, zonealarm and Shadow bittornado to make up my networks for
downloads. The light is always yellow. My download speed sucks....normally
around 10kbs...occassionally between 15-20kbs. I have tried all the
following:

1) disabled xp inbuilt firewall
2) port forwarded in the router
3) disable upnp triggering
4) unchecked internet proxy settings
5) enabled zonealarm and allow incoming&outgoing ports for 6881-6989
6) tried disabling zonealarm
7) even tried removing the router and directly connecting to westell modem
using cable

Natcheck always fails. Portcheck provides STEALTH status.

I haven't tried one thing though, enabling IP Passthrough in Westell Modem.
I know how to do that, but can anyone suggest if it is advisable or if it
will work???

Pls suggest any other solution that will help me get the green light and
increase the download speed???

Thanks

Check the IP shown on the http://btfaq.com/natcheck.pl page against the WAN IP shown at your router status page, if they are not the same, your ISP is using a transparent proxy.

I am not sure of WAP IP address in router status page...There is only LAN IP and Internet IP addess in that page and it was reflecting 192.168.x.x adreess. Natcheck page shows the ISP ip address, i guess.

Anyway, I tried the proxy test at http://all-nettools.com.

It said "Proxy Not Detected". What does this mean? Does it mean there is no transparent proxy?

If so,please please any other suggestions

Thanks

You have to use the "Bridged Ethernet" (with external router) function, because you are double NAT'ing your connection http://www.dslreports.com/faq/6096.
The IP Passtrough will only work without an external router (maybe it works when you bridge or DMZ the linksys router, but I wouldn't do this).
