Hi Guys

Just want to post a question that amuses me

When i visit different trackers(For eg trackers A and B) I will get a green light status on tracker A whereas I will get a yellow light on tracker B

I can get dl speeds of up to 100 plus Kb/s if i use tracker A but get sucky speed for tracker B

Both trackers update their files regulary and have around 60 peers and seeds in total

I'm very amused can some one enlighten me?

Thanks alot!

Do tracker A and tracker B use different server ports?

When you download a torrent from both of the sites, click "Details" then look at the tracker URL. It would sort of look like: http://tracker.somesite.com:6969/announce

Where you see the ":6969" indicates the port the tracker is using which in this example would be 6969. If you don't see a ":" at all after the site name in the URL, it is on port 80.

The reason why I asked is if your ISP implements any kind of transparent proxying, the tracker would get the IP of your ISP's proxy server instead of your real IP and then peers wouldn't be able to connect to you since they don't know your real IP. Transparent proxying typically is only done on a few ports such as port 80. The difference in green/yellow between trackers almost suggests there might be a difference on whether one is being transparently proxied or not.

I'm opening 3 clients now

Two are with green lights

One of the announce url has port 8000 on it the other doesnt have any numbers

The one with yellow light doesnt have any numbers on the announce url

If what you mention is true why does it have green light eventhough I did not open port 8000???

It doesn't have any numbers because it's on port 80, the standard http port, the port web servers normally run on. The fact that you're getting yellow means that your ISP has a transparent proxy that's preventing the tracker from detecting your IP.

We are working on ways to solve this problem, but until then, you may be stuck.

Sorry again guys but I found something interesting.

Whenever the client connects to a announce url with .php at the end of the address i will get yellow light but with a announce url that doesnt have .php i will get green light.

So is there anything to do with the transparent web proxy thing??

Thanks
