Hi, I'm trying to use Bittorent from a college campus and running into some problems. Basically, I can connect to plenty of other people (usually getting a green or yellow light), but no one can connect to me and so I get either very low download speeds (0.1 kb/sec) or no download speed at all. I'm not using a router, and am just using the integrated WinXP firewall. When I turned off the firewall for a few minutes, I got a little more consistent (but still very slow) download speed, but I'm not at all comfortable opening my computer up like that. Since I'm on a college campus, the CIT department determines which ports are open and which are closed, and I'm pretty sure they closed a lot of the ports needed for peer to peer stuff since we're a small school and casual Kazaa use does a nice job of obliterating our bandwidth. Do you guys know of anything I could do to let some people connect to me so my download speed will increase? Or am I just out of luck as long as I'm on the campus network? I suspect the latter, but I'll hope for some kind of solution anyway Thanks in advance!
