i'm using Belkin F5D7230-4 on windows xp.

i've done port forwarding.
and i've turned off my xp firewall.
but its still yellow light instead of a green one.
my average dl speed is like 6kB/s sometimes even 3kB/s
when i try pluggin modem directly to my pc it turned to green instantly
so i assume its something to do with my router.

inbound port as 6881-6999
private port as 6881-6999
type TCP

is that correct?

can someone please help?

First, go to http://www.portforward.com/ and find your router. Then follow the instructions for either the port forwarding or port triggering. Port triggering is prefferable because it is more secure and accesible from other computers on the network.

Hope this helps.

It is possible that you did not enter the correct private IP address on the 'virtual server' screen. You should find the correct IP if you go to the 'dhcp client list'. The IP is the IP of the computer that runs bittornado.
Also check that the ports in the bittornado prefs are the same as you forwarded in your router.

i've checked the prefs
turned off my windows firewall as well
correct ip
correct ports
its still yellow?
i've tried plugging the modem directly to my comp
and i've got green light from there
but when i used the router it has a yellow light
i've just recently updated my bittornado to 0.3.4

Try setting the port defaults in bit torrents prefs to 7000-7050 and open those ports on the firewall. That worked for me reason beeing is that my ISP is blocking the default ports from incomming TCP requests for supposed security reasons. Took a lot of searching to figure that on out.

Did ya re-enter the port forwarding info after you did the firmware upgrade. Not sure about the belkin, but I had to for mine. Now, I finally get green again!

thanks for all the replies and help
i dont think my ISP blocked anything
cos i tried plugging the modem directly to my computer
and it has a green light
so there must be something wrong with my router instead
i've updated the firmware and changed the port
i've also tried changing the port to 7000-7050
it's still yellow.....

Please post your settings from:

* the virtual server screen in your router
* port preferences in bittornado and if you have enabled UPnP
* and the IPs listed if you do start->run..->enter "cmd /k ipconfig"
