Well first of all, you need a second network card on your Desktop PC, and a reverse wired network cable to do so. A simpler way would be to buy a wireles capable router and learn to set this up(Theyre fairly easy to set up these days.) That is if your laptop is wireless capable. If its not the router will almost set it up automagicly Look up gigabyte b49g on Google. It recommended. I'm sure others will be able to suggest other capapble routers/wireless routers.
If you have a USB connecteable / LAN type motorola cable modem its possible too, but simple with the wireless router setup. anyone worth his salt who sell you one should be able to help suggest a siutable unit.
