Alright, here goes nothing, I hope someone who knows what they are doing reads this:

I have been scouring the internet for about 4 days now searching for anything that can speed up my Bittorrent download speed.

If Bittorrent is supposed to be the next-gen P2P software, then why the hell am I only getting 10 KBps!!! C'mon HTTP is faster!

Okay, well here is some information that might help, I am trying to be very specific.

*******************************************************************

OS: Windows XP SP2
Download Client: Bittornado T-0.3.12
ISP: Charter
Connection: Cable
Location: Wisconsin
Router Make/Model: Dlink DI-524 Revision A
Firewall Program: ZoneAlarm Pro 6.0.613.003
Other: I have Norton SystemWorks 2005 w/out Internet Security!!!
All I know is that it has Internet Worm Protection

*******************************************************************

My test results from http://www.bandwithplace.com/speedtest/

Speed

349.4 kilobits per second
Communications 349.4 kilobits per second
Storage 42.7 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 24 seconds
Subjective rating Not bad

*******************************************************************

The exact problem:

According to my research I should be getting a lot more than 0-30 KBps on my downloads.

*******************************************************************
The Steps I Have Taken:

- I have forwarded the ports on my router (6881-6886, 6969)
- I have triggered the ports on my router (6881-6886, 6969)
- I have configured my firewall for the program "btdownloadgui.exe" (aka Bittornado)
- I have configured my firewall for the general ports (6881-6886, 6969)
- I ran an NAT test at http://btfaq.com/natcheck.pl and passed
- I called my ISP and asked if they blocked or throttled any of the ports that I want to use...they said they didn't.
- I tried changing everything to port 4882 just in case, but there was no speed change.
- Now I have everything changed back to 6881-6886, 6969. (Eg. What it was before I called my ISP)

*******************************************************************

Here are some photos I have included to clarify anything:

These are my Bittornado settings

This is my setup for ipconfig

Here are the results of my NAT Test

The 'Applications Rules' for my router (This is port triggering as well)
Image

The things I have enabled to be allowed in my router's firewall
Image

These are the rules for the 'Virtual Server' of my router (Eg. The port forwarding function, I believe)
Image

Here are the rules I made for ZoneAlarm (these are the rules I defined in Firewall->Expert)

And last but not least the program rules I made for "btdownloadgui.exe"

My firewall is disabled. I uninstalled it just to be sure, and I am only getting 20kBps.

Thank you for the reply

Windows xp has a 50 connection limit as a default. It means that SP2 is stalling your work. An unofficial patch will modify the locked tcpip.sys and let you set the limit to whatever you wish. 50 half-open connections is a reasonable limit or you can set the limit back to 65,535 which it was before the SP2. The patch is called EventID 4226 Patcher.

Sorry, those values was incorrect. Windows xp with sp2 installed has 10 half-open connection by deafult. 10 connection is not enough for heavy traffic ie. downloading stuff. 100 half-open connections should be enough for emule, open more if needed. Event 4226 patch fixes this issue.

Okay I ran the prog. and changed the connections to 100. Now I have no change.

I was thinking mabye it was just the torrent so I downloaded some crap torrent that I would never download, but it was in the top 5 on TPB so I did.

Connection speed has now dropped to about 11 kB/s, and I have no upload. I'm thinking that's the problem right there, cuz upload is the key to download in BT, right?

Any suggestions will be appreciated. I'll keep trying different things.

Sorry, mabye I should have been more clear:

I changed the connections to 100 in the program and my speed hasn't changed at all. Actually, when I used to get at least 30kB/s now I get about 11kB/s.

I have a new question, though...If my speed is 348kB/s
