Post subject:  Disabled xp firewall

I disabled my microsoft XP firewall.Ihave no other firewalls and have no router.
My question is .How come i am not connectable,still??
I have a SPRINT DSL 645 series modem box,does this box have a firewall.??
As far as the desription on the box,it does'nt say if it does.
Please, if any one can help!! :cry:

chances are it will have a firewall. so goto start > run > cmd

then at the command prompt type ipconfig, then your ip address will appear

then put it into your web browser address field and your router setrtings will appear. you will be able to open ports from here.

This is how i put it in the browser field and whent to the same screen as were at now.I also tried the ip address by its self. :x :cry: Still no settings. THX FOR THE HELP ANYWAY,APPRECIATE IT.Anymore sugg. let me know.

Post subject:  XP Firewall & modem

Ok here are two things that should help you out.

1st) The Windows XP Firewall does not block outbount connections, meaning you should turn it back on and it will not hurt BitTorrent.

2nd) Try this IP address to access your modem: 192.168.0.1 That is the standard default address of external modems. If it doesn't work then look on the bottom of your modem and any labels that are on it.

But if you want a good freeware firewall try Sygate Personal Firewall, it's a driver level firewall so it doesn't use very many resources, it's easy to use, and it's compatibile with blocklist manager.
