 Post subject: Yellow..my eyes burn

erm, i need help. i'm the 2nd person in a router (not the host) and i have an SMC-type router, running on a windows XP operating system. How do i open a port so downloads can go through? I'm not computer saavy at all, so i'm afraid of messing my computer up and ending up with nothing. Its's hard for me to understand all this internet mumbo-jumbo about TCP/IP and what-not. Can anyone help?
