Hello,

I have read your Firewall Section of the FAQ and followed every step and instruction carfully. I do have a Router Firewall, a Linksys Wireless B-Router (BEFW11S4), and a software firewall (known as Norton Internet Security 2005).
Note: Firmware version of router: 1.52.02 (current release)

These are their current settings:

Router Firewall: portforwarded TCP 6881-6999 for ip 192.168.1.101, "".102, "".103. Enabled.
Software Firewall: allow all connections for BitTorrent's GUI .exe file
Software Firewall: rule: allow all connections via port 6881-6999 TCP Remote and Local

Despite the fact I have forwarded the ports, allowed the programs access. I still get a yellow indicator (that means Firewall) on my BitTornado client (by the way, which client do you prefer?)

I think that means I cannot download BECAUSE it detected a firewall, not there is a firewall present.

Most likely your security settings in Norton Internet Security 2005 are causing it to discard ALL BitTorrent traffic as hostile. That'd be both firewalled AND unable to download anything. Normally, firewalled just means slower speed -- as you can only download OR upload to unfirewalled people. But 0 speed indicates a worse case scenario. Try reducing the security settings in your SOFTWARE firewall. Your router should be blocking almost all unsolicited internet traffic anyway...unless you are using DMZ ...which isn't a good idea except as an absolute last resort.

ok, now Im getting a nice 1kb download... what risks am I taking by lowering my security level below "Medium"?

Since you have a router and presumeably you have DMZ and remote administration disabled... You could even remove your software firewall and not raise your risks much. About the only good thing a software firewall will do for you if you're behind a router...is alert you when a "strange" .EXE (or .DLL, .SCR...etc) tries to access the internet. "Anna K - porn file.EXE wishes to connect to the internet...Allow(Y/N)?" Handy, but if you're running decent antivirus software it's not a big deal. What's your ISP and which country (and state/territory if possible) are you in? Many ISPs are cripplinig BitTorrent traffic down to nil or nearly nil. You might find out if yours is by doing GOOGLE searches like "my-ISP blocking bittorrent" (without quotes.)

Well, I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. My ISP is Telus. Telus.ca if you want to know more. HEY! JUST FOUND OUT! I am behind a proxy server... now I went into prefs and clicked advanced and put in my external IP under Local IP. Now I disabled my firewall when Im using BitTornado... Im now getting 10kb/s... is the decent?

Stupid question: Why are you using a proxy server? Almost all file-sharing programs need if not demand direct connections between uploaders and downloaders. A proxy server can break that in a MAJOR way, even with workarounds. The proxy server is likely causing the firewalled condition, as it (probably) does not know how to port-forward to you all incomming traffic. 10 KB/sec...well, at least it's not dial-up speeds (3-5 KB/sec) anymore. But you could be seeing 10x that or more by resolving your firewalled issues.
