To just unblock the ports on the ip im logged into now.............I know this will change, but doesn't it only change when i restart my computer? In this case i could unblock ports on this ip and run a torrent, and just change the unblock anytime i reboot.

I just wanna try this to see if the static ip setup is my problem..........

Is this a firewall problem or a router problem?

Ok, yes -- even with 'automatically assign an ip' setup for your computer, your computer's LAN ip can only change when you reboot your computer...and even then it might not change every time.

The computer's LAN ip is almost always 192.168.something (where .something is typically .0.100 or 0.101 or .1.100 or .1.101).

Your Router's LAN ip is almost certainly 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. Notice only the very last number is changed from the router to your computer.

You can set your router to port-forward to whatever your computer's CURRENT LAN ip is and use that, and like you said that should work till you reboot your computer.

I didn't see anything about enabling UPNP at this page:
http://www.portforward.com/english/rout ... orrent.htm

You sure you did the right thing?

Did you port-forward the same set of ip ports that BitTornado is using?
Did you make 2 sets of port-forarding rules: 1 for TCP and another for UDP?
Are you sure you forwarded to the right ip address?

Did you disable Win XP's firewall?
