Hello All,

When I try to download certain torrents the yellow light obviously stays yellow thus making me post in this forum. I only have the windows firewall enabled so it is not a firewall issues because I've allowed use for bittornado through the firewall which leads me to the router. My router is the following make:

D-LINK DSL-502T

I have gone to portforward.com and followed all the instructions until I get to the part of setting up a Static IP address. This is where I ran into a few problems. When I type icponfig /all in the command prompt I get the following configuration:

WINDOWS IP CONFIGURATION:

Host Name .........: Owner
Primary DNS Suffix .....: (Nothing is Written here)
Node Type .....: Hybrid
IP routing enabled .....: No
Wins Proxy Enabled .......: No

ETHERNET ADAPTER LOCAL AREA CONNECTION:

Connection-specific DNS suffix .....: (Nothing is Written here)
Description ......: Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC

Physical Address ....: 00-11-D8-CA-40-CF
DHCP Enabled ........: Yes
Autoconfiguration enabled .....: Yes
IP Address .....: 10.1.1.2
Subnet Mask ....: 250.0.0.0
Default Gateway .....: 10.1.1.1
DHCP Server ......: 10.1.1.1
DNS Servers ....: 10.1.1.1

That's about it. What bugs me is the whole IP being that number. Leaving me without a clue what to do for the subnet mask, default gatway and dns servers sections I am ment to change.

Can anyone help me route through my problem?

Thank You,
DaMan

Right, assign yourself a static ip of something in the 10.1.1.x range.
Since your router has assigned you 10.1.1.2 via dhcp, lets use that.

You can assign the ip through the tcp/ip settings of your network adapter.

Now log into the backend of your router.
Goto Advanced, then Lan Clients.
Enter 10.1.1.2 in the IP Address field.
Enter your hostname/computer's name in the Host Name field. This is just what your computer is called on your local lan. Click Add.

Now goto the Port Forwarding section.
Click on User
Click Add
As Rule name, enter 'Bit Torrent' , Protocol: "TCP/UDP", Port Start: "6881", Port End: "6999", Port Map: "6881".
Hit Apply.

Configure your bit torrent client to use port 6881.

Alternatively, you if your bit torrent client supports UPnP, you might wanna use that. Although some users have reported that UPnP has issues with this router.

How do you connect 2 ADSL routers to one telephone line? One of the ADSL routers is wireless. I am only trying to do this because the other router allows me to make free phone calls in the evening.

You can try port triggering if your router has that option! With port triggering, u can use DHCP instead of using a Static IP, which is kind of a hassle. I have a guide on here showing you how to use port triggering, look for it
