Alright, so about 2 days ago, the speed on my Bittorrent downloads went to hell (generally maxing out at 3k/s). I've heard that the "default upload port" has been blocked by the University (which provides my internet access). My status lights are still green though. So is the upload port a different port than what most of the firewall discussion is talking about? Is there a way to reduce this effect?

If your status lights are green yet you are getting horrible speeds on all your torrent downloads all of a suddenly after they said they made some kind of change, it almost sounds like they are doing some sort of throttling on your bittorrent connections. Are you able to download via other means at high speeds?

I share exactly the same problem. I'm using OpenBSD and have it configured to open all the ~190 ports used by Bittorent, yet I only get around 15 kb/s max. I have a 512 kbit SDSL connection and I get around 56 kb/s using http, ftp and everything else. Both on the server/firewall and on the clients.

If I connect the cable directly to a non-firewalled windowsclient I get topspeed using Bittornado. What's wrong?
