Do you know how to get past the transparent cache?
Ive tried putting my ip (213.105.xx.xxx - correct ip?) in both of the ip boxes in the advanced settings to no avail

Hi, OK on my 600/128 connection thru a router im not downloading anymore than im uploading and my upload is limited to 13kb/s. Im currently connected to 2 seeds and 30 peers. My share rating has been between 0.75 and 2, now its at 1.25. Router has ports 6881-6999 forwarded Xp firewall is disabled No errors on shadows' client/abc/azureus/bt experimental client/ Only ie is used now and again for sites Netlimiter had got my upload throttled to 13kb/s In total there are 34 seeds and 1350 leechers Read every single faq and guide and problem yet still cannot solve this. Natcheck says 'Attempting connect to: 62.254.0.36 port 6881 Fail! Unable to connect. This likely means you need to adjust your port forwarding configuration, or there is no client running on that port. ' Ive tried changing ports on azureus and trying it but still get the same problem. My isp does not block these ports. Ive read this on a thread on some forums on my isp -' I've managed to work out why I was getting slow speeds with BitTorrent: if the tracker is on port 80, NTL's transparant cache intercepts the HTTP request and connects to the tracker from the NTL proxy server.' I was told to enter my ip in the client (i tried in the advanced options in the top ip box and second ip box, second one didnt work, first didnt do anything noticeable). Surely it cant just be that im getting these sh1tty speeds since 8am this morning? Any solutions to this? Thanks |

Check if the IP shown on the natcheck page is the same as what is shown in your router as WAN IP. Do you have sometimes green lights, or is it yellow (firewalled) for all torrents? Also check if you forwarded the ports to the correct IP, that's the IP of the computer that runs bittornado. |

Thanks for replying punisher, i saw you wrote this in an earlier thread. The natcheck ip is not the same as my WAN ip, is it my isp's proxy? It says on the first page 'The test will be run on the IP address: 62.254.0.36 (cache8-nott.server.ntli.net.) ' . I dont have that ^ proxy or any other on. The router config (Linksys BEFWS11S4 (something like that) is definately forwarding the ports to this computer. Its yellow for all torrents :/ |

Afaik, there is no way around the proxy. If it's only a transparent proxy for port 80 it should work if the tracker uses another port like 6969. You can test your proxy at http://all-nettools.com. You can read something about proxies and bittorrent here http://btfaq.com/serve/cache/26.html |

Im on ntl and since May 30th my d/l speeds have been awful. Im not running a router and my firewall is letting it thru. Connected to 11peers 15seeds. Uploading fine but downloading is awful. All my peers/seeds are local. Does that identify a problem? HELP |

NTL is using a transparent proxy and you are currently using proxy no. 4 from Baguley. As this is a transparent proxy, trackers which specify another port than port 80 should give you a green light and remote connections. Maybe NTL is additionally blocking the default bittorrent ports, if you say bad speeds are only since end of May, but you can easily change the default port range then. Ive now gone green after entering the ip in azerus (didnt work in tornado) and now im getting remote connections but my upload rarely goes over 4kb/s and the download fluctuates under 20kb/s...1 second it can be 2kb and the next it can be 9. Though after 45 minutes ive uploaded 40mb and downloaded 28...I guess i just cant win :/ The tracker url is just http://tracker.prq.to/announce - does this mean that its using port 80? |

k Do you have any idea yourself why both my dl and ul are no slowing then before - the yellow blob? They are rarely going over 7kb

Im thinking so, until ntl get their proxies sorted out as they are known to be dodgy. You could try putting the ip in tornado but going on prefs, then advanced (i think) and putting it in there...works for some but not for me. If you get the azerus bt client then you just have to enter your ip in the server part of the configuration menu and that puts me into green. If you do do that, post back with if your speeds go back to normal aswell. |

Yes, it would be interesting to know if it works with bittornado and/or azureus. Maybe Shad0w can improve this function if it works e.g. with azureus. You can also read the ntlworld site I posted to get more information about NTL and proxies. As stated there you can try to force the proxy or any other proxy by putting it into internet options. If you have a router you have to forward the ports used by bittornado. If you have a firewall you have to allow ougoing traffic from/to any ports and ingoing traffic from any ports to the ports specified in bittornado. |
