 Post subject: cross program resuming

i've been downloading some rather large torrents recently (dvdrips and seasons of things) and with school approaching with it comes a larger pipe. i've gotten permission to bring a small case and leave it on 24/7 on in the server room to download things (and a few things for the sysadmin ^^)

in the past i was using the old shadow client, because it didnt preallocate space, then when brams's standard client started doing that, i switched back to it to keep up with tracker protocol updates.

only recently have i switched to bittornado (i heard about the core improvements and the addition of the download capper)
i've been using it on my laptop for smaller downloads.
but since i have some rather large downloads stilll uncompled on my download server, i still use the standard client there.

what i'm wondering, can i resume partially downloaded torrents that i started with one client with another?

BitTornado can resume downloads from most any BT client, though it may possibly lose data from incomplete pieces. Current official BT can resume from BitTornado with no problem. If you finish allocation (or preallocate), most any BT app can resume from BitTornado.

Thanks for that info Shadow! I was going to start a thread on this very topic until I found this. :)

I had a very large torrent partially done using BitTorrent 3.4.2 but I resumed (after backing up the torrents` folder) using BitTornado 0.3.7 and am going to validate the folder using TorrentSpy, if possible.

One question, when you say exited the client cleanly, do you mean the close gadget/cancel button, or is there something else I should do first? EG. Finish allocation?

Also, can any harm be done to the files downloaded in a torrent if the user clicks finish allocation but accidentally clicks the cancel/close gadget?
