First I read this forum to find some info, but find nothing.
I'm a happy bittorrent user and just switch from bittorrent to bittornado, because a tip of friend. It should be faster.

So I trying to find how to put the settings to get maximum download speed.
I have cable with 4mb download en 1mb upload speed.
Now I put the settings on unlimited, try to see how fast it become.
I am downloading at this moment with :
The light is green
Downloadrate: 12-13 kB/s
Uploadrate: 23-24 kB/s
Sharing rate: 2760 :-)
Connected to 42 peers with an average of 30.3% completed (total speed 531 kB/s)
connected to 5 seeds; also seeing 7.996 distributed copies

So far my knowledge goes, I think this is slow. But than the question is what settings do I need to improve this download speed???

PS. I have a software firewall from Sygate. No router.

Who can help me further???

Best regards,

Chocka

After looking further on this forum, I found out:
1. Allow BT in Sygate firewall. I do already, so no difference.
2. Calculate upload rate max. otherwise I upload to much. So calculated mine upload 1024 / 8 x 80% = 100 and put max.uploads at 10.

Changes the settings and it become:

Is this the top max for Bittornado with this download or there other changes to do to get even better download rates???

Change upload mode from unlimited to DSL/Cable Fast, and use those defaults.

Alright. Thanx for the info. My torrents are never this fast. The key to play with is the max.uploads and the uploadrate.

At the moment of SnagIt:

And at this 225kB/s with the same settings as in the image.

WOW, this is what I like to call Road Runner.

I put the setting on ISDN/DailUp and since that, really amazing speed.

Thanx for help.

Hallo Guest,

After two topics at different sites, I learned to play with the upload settings.

I always start at automatic, with 100kB/s upload and max. 10 uploads. After connecting to peers and seeds, in time about between 2-5 minutes, I change to dailup/isdn with 5 kB/s and max. 2 uploads. After this change, my download runs from 10-20 kB/s to 280-300 kB/s.

TIP 1: wait to change settings with intervals of 5 minutes.
TIP 2: Download rate depends on number of peers and seeders, it also depend on how busy is the traffic on the WWW. So your download will not be always that high!

If you have further questions, donnot doubt to ask.

Best regards,

Chocka

I bet 5k/s only works if you are downloading primarily from a fast seeder. If the fast seeder(s) were busy sending to other people or weren't available on your particular torrent, 5k/s would get you very little speed from other peers.

That is why I am saying, play with it.

I know that my provider gives me a max. of 1 mB upload. Based on this I calcullated that mine upload rate could be max. about 100 kB/s.

1024 / 8 x 80% = 102.40 kB/s

So when I am downloading, I playing with my upload between 5-100 kB/s rate and max. uploads between 2 and 10. I have several choices: automatic; dailup/isdn; unlimited etc.

Depend on how large the file you are downloading, to try several options with intervals of 2-5 minutes to get best download rate.

Good luck with it.

Thanks a lot! Combined with the screens, this should go sticky.

I just found this while trying to find out about what the seeder option does, and then i find this!

Once again, THANKS!

Dude I downloaded the exact same thing as you today before reading ur post (the photoshop file) and I downloaded at about 280 KBps without changing a thing (which is caused by a fast seeder or something) because I tried with another file to reduce the upload rate to ISDN/Dial-Up and it didnt changed a thing (around 85-90 Kbps)...
