1. As soon as you start the download, click "Pause"
(It may not be necessary, I'm not sure)

2. Click on "Details"

3. Right-click on the file/files you don't want and choose "download never"

Happy torrenting! :D

Hello. I want to download certain files from a torrent too. I clicked pause, then details, then I right-clicked on the files that I didn't want to download but there was no options to choose, nothing appeared :( I use BitTorrent S-5.8.3 (SHADOW's experimental).
I hope you can help me. Thanks in advance!!!

You need a newer version of Shadow's BT client (now called BitTornado). You can find it at www.bittornado.com

i tried to dl only some of the batch download, however Bittornado keeps on searching for the files that I don't want to download. "IO error: unable to open "the file I DON'T want to download" The whole torrent stops working. How do I keep this from happening?

This "feature" appears to have issues due to the way filespace is allocated, as several other threads reporting problems with it show.

0.3.17 has the same problem. Apparently a possible patch has been posted in this thread:
Forum=Major Problems, Thread=IO Error using pre-allocate and priority list
but I have no idea how to add that patch to the program. :(

(too bad I can't just link to the thread so you don't have to dig thru the forum for it, but links are apparently not allowed in posts)
