Post subject: Can I use port 30000?
PostPosted: Mon May 16, 2005 1:01 pm
I don't seem to have major connection or speed problems but of course one always wishes their transfers would be faster :-)

But I just noticed that I'm using ports 30000 to 30100 with Bittornado. All the guides on the net say Bittorrent uses a specific range up to 6999. Is this just dependent on a particular client, or is there a reason?

Does it make a difference if i'm using these high range ports? I wonder if maybe it makes it more difficult for other peers to connect to me?

Doesn't matter. 30000-30100 is just as good as any other. The 6999 value is just the upper end of the default.

Thanks. That's reassuring.
