PostPosted: Thu Mar 18, 2004 9:34 am
Ok i have d/l a bunch of clients and don't know what to do now. Everytime i want to d/l anime from this site http://animetorrents.com/ it says it doesn't allow gzip based announces and to use a differen client or update. Well i have tried about 5 different clients none of them will allow me to. What should i do?

I had no problems initiating a bittorrent download from that site. Does your ISP by any chance use a transparent web proxy? http://www.all-nettools.com/pr.htm might be able to say whether they do or not.

Are you using Norton Internet Security?
Something in it's Ad blocking fooks with the gzip for gzip based announces and doesn't let it thru the firewall, so it wont' allow you on a tracker that uses that

I get the same error message under the same conditions. I don't have internet security but I do have Norton Firewall. Is there a way to get through the Firewall without having to disable it?

I haven't found or heard of anyway around that, other than to disable the firewall.. You only have to have it disabled when you start a torrent that uses gzip based announces, than after it gets started you can re-enable the firewall
It would be nice if Symantec put out an update that resolved that
