I'm having difficulties with ports.. I dont know which ports
are forwarded(NAT), and dont know my routers admin password, so cannot check them or change them.. So:

I've found one working port(5001) so far, which gives me green light..

if i enter f.ex. ports 5000-5003 to bit torrent(shadows experimental),
it uses that 5001, so does it search for open port within that range,
or why doesn't it try to use the port 5000(which is closed, so it would give yellow ofcourse)? This is good thing ofcourse..

Now, if i enter ports 1-64000 to torrent client, will it automatically find which ports are open(since it found the 5001 which was not the starting port)? This would be very handy!

Shadow, help?

What kind of router you got?
Brand?
Model?

That information could greatly help me to help you

Maybe 5000 was in use (maybe by another BT client), so it uses 5001 instead?

No, there was no other clients running. I could even put 4998-5003
and still the first client finds this 5001 and uses it.. next client
uses some other port, which are closed ofcourse.

My router is nokia m1122. i could open more ports, but my admin
password suddenly changed or something, i can't log on. Dont know the reason, used to work fine. Now i cant remember which ports i had open..
that 5001 i've found out. Tried few online port scanners, but they
dont tell me all the ports(except some scanners gave open for 80 and 31, but bt gives yellow if i try to use those) are closed, EXCEPT if i have some client like BT open in port 5001, then it says open for 5001.

Use the one on grc.com to scan for all open ports, fast too :)

It can scan only 64 ports at a time, and i have to test all the
64000.. Besides, it found my 5001 to be open
ONLY when i had bt client open and using that port.. for some reason..
so i have to to open 64000 downloads, one for each port to find out which are open..

Heh. Yes. Please note that while you specify a range of ports for BT, each downloader only opens one server port (the first one it finds open).

So, if i enter 1-64000 to range of ports, and my only open port would
f.ex. port 63000, will the client find that port, or scan just few
first and then give up and give yellow?

It doesn't check all the way out for open ports; that's very difficult. It selects the first UNUSED port.
