hopefully theshad0w will knock these posts right off the board when he gets to them. do this one along with it.

A quick google search turned up with one (1) board with a topic that is intended for flaming: http://boards.thepatriotact.net/. Not the whole thing, though, just the topic that says, "this is the place for flaming."

Hey folks. just thought i'd add my 2 cents. Recently i had the same problem with the spyware. I had just reinstalled XP onto my computer with SP1 and hadn't had time to reinstall all my other programs. I did happen to have bittornado installed though since it was on a recent backup disc that i made. There were no other programs installed on my computer yet except for a couple of messengers. Anyhow, i ended up on REDACTED and without clicking on anything or downloading any torrents at all, i noticed 3 or 4 programs installing themself at the same time and only noticed that because it seemed to slow my computer down so much while all this was going on. Ended up with all the icons on my desktop and apparently a bunch of spyware/adware installed on my computer that even newly installed and updated versions of Ad Aware and Spybot couldn't detect. Once of which being some search toolbar thing called Begin2Search that i could NOT get rid of after trying to for at least 2 hours. Since there wasn't yet anything on my computer that i could loose, i decided to say screw it and just reformatted and reinstalled XP all over again because i'd ran out of paitence. I came here to see if anyone else had this problem recently and apparently some have, but it seems that maybe it has to do more with certain websites either using bittornado to install this crap or possibly installing it without the aid of any bittorrent program at all, rather than bittornado being bundled with spyware/adware. Out of curiosity, i went back to Supernova.org after reinstalling Xp, but without any bittorrent client installed, and nothing seemed to happen out of the ordinary.

o0o k people I have been fighting spyware on friends comps. for about 2 years and my computer has been spyware free for about 1 year...
Best way I found to not get spyware DO NOT USE IE! ActiveX and many more security flaws butt fuck you...
Also get a software firewall that'll alert u when ur connection is being used helps spot spyware/adware that wasn't detected...
progs I use to kil spyware/adware:
Spybot: S&D
Ad-Aware 6
spyware blaster
Also
For Browsing I use FireFox 1.0 finally they out of beta stage!

And also if your REALLY fucked with spyware you CANNOT remove it too easily I found one comp. that had scripts that redownloaded and/or reinstalled it even after I have removed it... these BASTARDS are getting more smart with their fucking ad-ware... I spent 1 week removing those fuckers and just couldn't get them all so we ended up formating it... I'm dream on starting a site/team that'll will bite back to spyware/adware... maybe even look into it to see if they are violating any rights.

Also I have found no spyware to my knowledge in BitTornado.

Simple way to keep Spyware off your computer.

1) Keep the OS updated.
2) Install a good antivirus, Ad-Aware and Spbot.
3) KEEP THEM UPDATED and USE THEM !!
4) Don't be a dumbass... that means, don't go installing things you don't know about. If a website tells you that you need to install something before continuing, chances are that it's bad. There are exceptions, but generally, you should not need to install 3rd party applications.
5) Don't be a dumbass... If a site says FREE PORN then it's probably bad. Why would they give you free porn when there is so much money to be made on it?
6) Don't be a dumbass... read steps 1 - 3 and follow them.
7) DON'T BE A FUCKING DUMBASS.

Anyways... if you think you got spyware from BT, either you didn't get it from this site, or YOU ARE A DUMBASS.

*if you are a dumbass, GET THE FUCK OFF THE COMPUTER! NOW*

I recently upgraded to SP2 and soon after got all the nasty things being mentioned in this thread (the viruses not the insults)... took me a bit but I'm cured now.

Since then I've downloaded and installed BitTornado and haave no viruses. Using it regularily too.

Viruses and spyware sucks large rotting organic rocks... but blame the turd taht wrote the virus not those he/she takes advantage of.

I can't even blame microsoft as I made the decision to use buggy software... in fact I'd even feel sorry for them but for the sense of divine justice in it.

Go Shadow!

Yo! guys stop trashing The Shadow!

The Spyware is not coming from this program.......The bots can come from a random download via a open port from any site you visit....interenet porn visits are the biggest cause , instant messanger is another.......I didn't have a problem with the shadow downloading it or running it......no bots....before you make an accusation make sure you have proof before you start to trash someones hard work, that BTW is free......and has downloaded countless files.....If you want to use another program thats fine..............just move on........

One recomendation in addition to ad-aware se also add Spy Bot Search and Destroy to you programs....it works in conjunction with ad-aware se to clear any bots on your machime..............

SP2 is fucking shit!!! It fucks up everything my friend was having trouble just getting BT running again after the shit SP2 fucked up!!

NOD32 is a very nice Anti-virus prog

I've heard, from a reliable source, that there MAY be a worm going through the BitTorrent Network. I've heard this worm takes your bandwidth and sends it to another computer, and the prog doesn't even have to be running. It works somewhat like a trojan but doesnt take over your comp. it utilizes your comp.'s bandwidth. Also knocks your cpu performance. This is ONLY A RUMOR!! I have never encountered it myself but have heard about it... Since I've been using BT for so long I don't beleive that this worm exists, I probably would have encountered it by now.

That worm rumour is total FUD. Just think about it and you will see why.

As for SP2, sounds like a software conflict on your friend's computer. I can say that SP2 has caused NO problems on my network.

Oh, and NOD32 is mediocre. It's virus detection rate is fine, but you had better hope that you never download a trojan. NOD32 is one of the worst for catching anything that isn't a plain vanilla virus.

Have seen many posts from people proclaiming that Bit Tornado Contains spyware personally i feel this is rediculous as all versions of tornado i have ever had have surpassed adaware, spybot search and destroy and mcaffee filtering tools. If you want my opinion here it is.... update your security software and opsys as its likely that thats being attacked and vulnerable or your not running any security software at all!!!

Actually NOD32 has won a lot of rewards it's proven to be one of the best AV's out there beats the shit out of "Popular" Norton and McAffee.

TeXy... try testing them out for yourself. Have some malware samples in a password protected zip file to test various AV's. I promise you that you will be surprised at how bad NOD32 sucks. Then try the same with Kaspersky and McAfee and you will see the difference.

Bottom line is Eset NOD32 is fine for viruses, but try throwing a trojan at it and NOD32 becomes as ineffective as a sponge.
