on solaris (remote) with python 2.4, bittornado 039b, and the following options (from default):
--display_interval 5 --max_files_open x --saveas /tmp/temp

I get the following error with large, multi-part files:
ERROR:
IO Error: unable to open /tmp/temp/CD1/m-mdbscr1.r47: [Errno 24] Too many open files: '/tmp/temp/CD1/m-mdbscr1.r47'

I get this error even when x is set extremely low, even to 1! How is this possible? If one file is already open while running for awhile, how can it later give this error since it's not going to open any more files than that particular one?
