For some reason whenever my torrents download too fast the downloads freeze. It usually happens when the download is going about 200KB/sec.
Anyone got any idea why this is? Could it be the tracker limiting me?

My computer specs are 3.06GHz P4, 1GB of RAM, Windows XP Home.
My DSL speeds are 600KB/60KB.

Thanks

Trackers don't send file data and don't control upload/download speeds.

What network card do you have in your computer?

Do you have the latest drivers for your network card installed?

Any hardware or software routers or firewalls?

I have this problem too... Strangely enough.... This is why I use other clients to leech.. and only use BitTornado to Super-Seed

Search the forums. Read old posts. This has been answered about eleventy billion times.

Your network card most likely can't handle having so many connections at once. Try setting the Max Peer Connections (under Prefs / Advanced) to 60, or 40 if that doesn't work. If your card is still crapping out, google search your card's model number and bit torrent. You may need to either update or roll back your NIC drivers.

It can't be my network card. I've been connected to way more peers than when this happned. Sometimes i've had three different torrents running at the same time before with a lot of peers but speeds aren't very fast (50KB-80KB) and it never freezes. I know my network card can handle the speeds too because i've reached over 600KB when downloading off of ftp and websites. And alos my network card drivers are up to date.

Have to say that it looks to me also like there is an issue here with Tornado since the freezing problem happens fairly often with it but never did with Experimental on the same exact PC, same exact NIC, and same exact NIC drivers. So, seems pretty clear there is something going on with Tornado!

Sadly, no one has come up with a way to reproduce this freezing issue I keep seeing reported on more than their own computer. It would definitely be great if someone knew specifically what on some people's machines causes the freezing that doesn't cause it on others.

It can't be the amount of peers. As soon as it gets to a certain speed, about 250KB it freezes. I tried messing with the amount of peers and it does not help with my problem.

What brand/model DSL modem do you have? Also, are you behind any NAT routers? If so, which?
