what should i do?

be patient, leave the torrent running for a few hours and come back to it, the tracker is probably overloaded.

if one have let it run for a day when opening it again after a nights break, and still same msg, can the tracker or the file i'm trying to download be dead? or is this an error msg only when you can't connect to a tracker which is online?
in my case it has been working earlier since i have 75% downloaded already, but now nothing happens..

normally it means the tracker is either down, or overloaded. if the tracker has a forum or website, you might check there to see if they are having problems. if you already have a peer list, you may still be able to finish the download if you do not stop or pause.
