When downloading a single torrent I can reach speeds of up to 580 kbp/s which is incredible.

However, the second I open two torrents at once, both downloads will be limited to approximately 2-5 kbp/s regardless of how many seeders. If I pause one of the downloads the speed does not improve. It appears that if I have two applications of bit tornado opened at once, everything goes to crap.

As well, I have 9 ports open specifically for bit tornado, so I do not believe that is an issue. I have disabled uPNP and I have port forwarded the aforementioned 9 ports through my router.

Any one have a solution to this?

Cheers

Running multiple torrent instances splits the upload and download speed between the two.

You're probably choking off your connection's upload by running the second torrent causing both to just fizzle.

Thanks for your input, but random guesses will do me no good.

My suggestions aren't random guesses.
They're based off of over two years dealing with torrent related issues.

Another potential problem is the number of peer connections. Try reducing the number in your preferences.

It's not a random guess at all, you need to make sure that the total upload from both torrents is no higher than the default upload rate you have set for when only one is running.
