For the past week or so my download speed went from 60-70k to 12k. I didn't change any setting, use the same firewall and didn't install any other internet related software. So am I the only one or is this some problem with the program?

I now downloaded the 3.1 version (been using the 0.2.0 before). Hope it'll help.

Try changing the ports to some random interval.

Many ISPs have started to shape the traffic on the default range 6881-6999 to slow bw usage. I got speeds up to 700kb/sec now when before I was at 20-30 on a good day.

He means open up Bittornado, go to Prefs (in the top right hand corner) and change the port range (again top right) to something else. For example, try 50000-50050 or something..

avoid ports commonly associated with p2p protocols, the more random the ports, the harder it is for ISP's to strangle bandwidth. try using any port range, just avoid these ones which are well known.

Direct Connect 411 - 413
Kazaa 1214
eDonkey 4662
Gnutella 6346 - 6347
BitTorrent 6881 - 6889
