Post subject:  btlaunchmany.py and btlaunchmanycurses.py don't work

Hi,

I tried to run these two scripts (bittornado 0.0.1) on a FreeBSD 4.9 + python 2.3.3 box , they starts but they do not connect to trackers.

The torrents are in good shape. The box is behind a router and adequately natted.

BTW how do you compile this client? (I am new to python ;))

Thx

Are you able to do single torrent downloads with "btdownloadcurses.py" ? If not, what is the error given when you try the same torrents with that?

I was able to download the same torrents with btdownloadcurses.py.

I got btlaunchmanycurses.py to work by changing, in /etc/rc.conf, the line

hostname=" ThisBoxHostname.MyDomain" # the install default

to

hostname=" ThisBoxHostname"

I am not an expert but I know that this trick may work in this kind of situation.

This has to do with the way FreeBSD handles hostnames. I guess that your script is trying to resolve the hostname but it gets hostname.domain instead or vice-versa.

This has to do with FreeBSD . I guess that your script is trying to resolve ThisBoxHostname but it can't because the actual hostname is ThisBoxHostname.MyDomain.

Ooops, sorry forgot to login :mrgreen:

Last line should be

"This has to do with FreeBSD. I guess that your script is trying to resolve "ThisBoxHostname" but it can't as the actual hostname is " ThisBoxHostname.MyDomain"".

They might've gotten broken what with all the changes to the core. They're going to be rewritten anyway, and when they are, they will be MUCH more stable, even compared to the official client.
