well this seems to be something like multicasting, sending to multiple nodes at the same time. one idea can be to have peers be subscribers to a p2p file. once a specific number of peers are all available online at the same time the file can start to be seeded. being propagated to all the peers prefereably in a tree hierarchy of peer nodes. intended for a short time distribution of data something similar to superseed mode used by some torrent clients.

This seems very similar to Kast: http://konspire.sourceforge.net/index.shtml

It has the same concept as what you have just mentioned, along with a comparsion of BT and Kast.

Python is much better =P
You don't have to worry about cross-platform problems with it

You can code in C++ so it is multiplatform. You just have to be sure not to use windows only or linux only libraries, functions, or behaviors.

So can java, and you can see some problems with that :p. and C++ can be cross platform, just use SDL, FLTK or any other cross platform libaries.

Saying a programming language is good because it works on all platforms is like saying anal sex is good because it works on all genders....

that is actually one of the better comparisons ive heard :]
c++ is fastest, most reliable (at the cost of greater difficulty to code perhaps) -- thats why software should be engineered in it (f$@# java)

C++ is faster and more reliable than Python -- but it's also much more difficult to code in. It also potentially introduces the problem of buffer overflows, less so with XP SP2, but still... Since my main reason for working with BitTorrent is that I enjoy implementing algorithms, I'm going to stick with Python.

actually java is faster than c++, c# would be the fastest, but the .net framework/mono isnt spread widely enough yet.
however, specially the GUI-elements, waste hardware resources a lot more than c++.
hence, a c++ client is much more attractive for lowend machines.

what?

Since when is an interpreted language faster than a native machine language compiled executable?

Yes, java is slower due to the graphics - but it's chief holdup is the very thing that makes it attracitve - the JVM....

c++ is the solution for slow machines, but this days so on we nee a very cross plataform language, so python is even more free than java, and dont depend on sun standars. :?

Yeah java is a dick. Slows down your whole comp no matter how good it is and screws with your internet too. If this thing is as reliable as Bit Tornado then I'll be sure to use it.
