winXP sp2, windows firewall off, norton internet sercurity: anti-virus ON, internet sercurity OFF. Scaned with spybot, no melware.

checked with this website: http://btfaq.com/natcheck.pl

Entered the right hash, checking port 6881, fail.

Can someone please help me solve this problem. Thx

Many cablemodems/DSL modems have their OWN routers built into them -- BitTorrent traffic may not even be REACHING your router if you don't ip port-forward them too!

i got no router, cable modem (Surfboard SB3100, i dont think there is a firewall build in there, how do u check it?) connect to my LAN card. still need to do port forwarding?

my connection is 10M(down)/128k(up), what speed i should get from that?

and im pretty sure there is no router build-in my cable modem. since there are only 3 ports at the back of my modem. Power, signal coming in, signal going out.

is there a possibility that my ISP blocked the port?
my ISP is optus from Australia.

I did a little research and went to Motorola's website (via a GOOGLE search on your cablemodem model.) It does NOT have a firewall or router in it.

Optus line speeds are officially rated as 10 Mbit down and 128 kbit up (0.125 Mbit up), however as of Oct 31st, 2005 at least a couple people are getting speeds of <400 kbit down:

(Upload speeds weren't posted in that forum post, which is a major limiting factor in torrent download speeds.)

Getting unfirewalled as far as BitTornado is concerned is what you want though, as it will at least increase your chances of getting higher download speeds.

Have you run ipconfig to confirm that your PC's ip address is a true internet ip instead of a LAN ip (such as 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x)?

when i run ipconfig, i got the following
Connection-specific DNS Suffix. : vic.optushome.com.au
IP Address...............................: 220.239.118.XXX
Subnet Mask ...........................: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway.......................: 220.239.118.1

i think this is the real ip, and i got no router,no firewall, windows firewall off, no virus, but YELLOW light.....my speed is around 10k-30k.
iv tried a few bt client, they all the same. speed verys between 10k-50k.
and in the link u gave to me, where did they done their speed test from?

also, i was just reading in the whirlpool forum under optus section, it seems all other optusnet users getting reasonable speed. like 100k plus..
would my modem affect the speed? cuz my modem is pretty old now..

i just found out that the speed test was on www.ozspeedtest.com
and iv tried the test. here is the result...

Mirror: Optus
Test type: Cable

Your connection speed:

kbps: 4550.1
KB/s: 568.7625
Mbps: 4.44345703125


568kb/s, in bt, i think i should at least get above 100kb/s.....

Looks like all your known ducks are in a row:
1.Win XP's firewall is taken care of.
2.Windows UPnP seems to be working ok.
3.No software firewall interfering.
4.No NAT-based router interfering.
5.Your computer's ip matched the internet ip as seen by other bittorrent-running computers on the same torrent.

Which leaves as possibilities:
1.Virus and trojan activity, which acts as firewalls and proxies -- secretly rerouting data through themselves to "read" or "corrupt" that data in some way.
2.Your ISP is firewalling you in some way.

Try SHIELDS UP! at http://grc.com
DON'T just check bittorrent ports!
The goal is to see if you can get open or at least closed results on ANY ip port, then worry about why/why not.
