Ok sticky this. How to solve this transparent proxy thingy?

The problem:
If your ISP is using a transparent proxy, all HTTP communications on port 80 are routed through a web proxy cache. This results in the other end seeing the proxy's IP instead of your own IP.
For Bittorrent it means that a tracker listening on port 80 only gets the proxy's IP and because other peers/seeds get your IP from the tracker, they will get the wrong IP.

Solutions:
First you have to know that with a transparent proxy, you will only have problems with trackers listening on port 80, other trackers should work.

One solution is to provide your current WAN IP to the tracker. Go to the advanced preferences within Bittornado and enter your WAN IP in the box labeled "Local IP". But a problem remains, the tracker has to support this function or it won't work. You also have to update the settings everytime your WAN IP changes.

Another possible solution is to force the use of your transparent proxy or another proxy on another port than port 80 (e.g. port 8080). If you're using Internet Explorer, you can set the proxy if you go to the Tools Menu->Internet Option->Connections, then click either on Settings for dial-up or Settings for LAN connections, this depends on wether you have a dial-up connection or not. Now enable "Use proxy server..." and enter the proxy server address and port. You can also go to the advanced menu to clear all fields except the HTTP field.
I don't have a transparent proxy, so I can not garantuee that it will work, you have to try out different settings with your own proxy/another proxy, with using port 80/not using port 80 and so on. It is also possible that trackers wich specify port 80 in the announce url work with that method, but trackers without don't, so you have to provide the port 80 in the announce url (you can use the external announce from the advanced screen in bittornado).

You can find the proxy address when you visit some sites that tell you your online IP (it's your proxy's IP only when you really have a proxy):

The last site also has a proxy test. The port for transparent proxies is port 80.

In the advanced section of the proxy settings you can specify different proxies for different protocols like http, ftp, etc. If you want to use the proxy only for http communications, you have to clear out the other settings and you have to uncheck "use the same server for all protocols", of course.

Note: Modern trackers are able to find your real IP in the HTTP headers; if the test script is able to connect to you, the tracker ought to as well. If you're having problems with torrents from a site always being yellow, ask the site admin to upgrade.

None of the suggestions worked. I can connect but the dl rate is only 1 or 2. But my upload rate is around 15. My connection is adsl 1500k. I used adsl 256k last time and it was fine. but ever since i changed 2 this wireless adsl 1500k router, dl rates became pathetic. I tried port forwarding but still no use. So how?

Have you really checked that your're using a proxy? It sounds more like you have not setup your router correctly .

I tried the test and they say i am behind a trans proxy. Anyway other than xp firewall and router firewall(which i have already configured), what other firewalls do i have 2 configure?

Maybe you have a router and a proxy problem.

To check for the proxy, go to any of the sites i've posted and compare the IP from the site with the WAN or Internet IP from your router, you should find it on a status page somewhere.

For the router you have to forward the ports used by bittornado (6881-6899), the settings are often called "virtual server". Some of the d-link routers with a firewall let you also do the port forwarding with a firewall rule.

There are apparently some transparent proxies that don't put any information at all in the HTTP headers and are therefore undetectable. You can find out if you have one with this test torrent:

I did the test and i found out i had a trans proxy. But i did everything punisher says, but still nothing helps.
